The Brief: A brand new Obstacle Race on a Limited Budget
Katharine House Hospice wanted to add a new challenge to their fundraising events range and had not yet ventured into obstacle racing. Feedback from their participants suggested there was a demand for a challenging Obstacle Race. Katharine House had a modest budget so we needed to come up with the best event we could offer at a limited cost. We met with Katharine House to understand the audience and the goals of the hospice. We also explored any potential competitor races taking place in the area.
The Event: A Military Style Obstacle Race with support from Local Companies
Gladiator Events devised a tough, 5km and 10km race called ‘Extreme Warrior’. The race takes place on Stafford Common, less than 2 miles from Katharine House. To keep costs low we have arranged to use local suppliers, who are offering obstacle equipment and other infrastructure at low cost or free of charge, as well as using some of our existing obstacles.
The Result: All Targets Smashed!
The inaugural event took place on 23rd March 2019. Katharine House exceeded their target number of registrations and the event was a roaring success! They have surpassed their fundraising target of £30,000 and look set to raise over £50,000 from the event.
Needless to say, we are all systems go to get their 2020 event up and running!
“Thank you so much to the whole team from Gladiator Events for everything you did for us. The event was absolutely amazing and your service was second to none! Thank you all!” — Lisa Carson, Katherine House Hospice
