The Brief: Create a Flagship Event for a New Audience
Devon Air Ambulance came to Gladiator Events in 2024 with a desire to organise a successful fundraising challenge event. The goal was to diversify their portfolio outside of their busy community events to create a flagship event for the charity. They were keen on a trekking challenge that explored a new supporter base away from their core Exeter demographic.
The Event: A beautiful 14 & 26 Mile Trek along the South West Coast Path
We designed two beautiful circular routes in DAAT’s chosen location of Plymouth, heading inland via Wembury, Brixton and on to Yealmpton, which all have DAAT landing sites. The route then rejoins the beautiful coastal path from Noss Mayo to Jennycliff for some amazing views all the way back to the finish line - including a water taxi ride which is a first for GE!
The Result: £40,000 Raised, Overwhelming Positive Feedback & a Guaranteed 2026 Event!
Over 100 incredible supporters conquered either a 14 mile or 26 mile route along the South West coast path all in support of Devon Air Ambulance lifesaving service. Overwhelmingly positive feedback from all participants… who were a hugely engaged team of hikers who have gone on to raise an incredible amount of money. We are thrilled that in 2026, Devon Heli Hike is heading further down the South West Coast Path to the stunning Bigbury on Sea! There are three routes for the event this year, a 26 Mile, 14 Mile and 6 Mile to broaden the range of participants able to take part. each route showcases spectacular coastal and countryside views. To top it off, the event will once again include a Water Taxi crossing at Bantham close to the finish line, giving participants a well-earned rest and a memorable event finish experience.
“The world’s most professional and impressive event managers I could imagine. I said to their face but will put it here too - you are magical fairy dust unicorns. Problems arose and were fixed before we even caught wind of them - not sure what magic you weave but it’s truly impressive. Thank you!”
