The Brief: Create a Royal-themed Hike for a Corporate Team supporting the D of E Charity
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Charity came to GE in 2024 looking for an engaging royal-themed hike for a group of 300 employees from one of their Corporate partners. This hike had successfully run its first year on a Thames Path route and they were looking for something that was more connected to the D of E cause and the Royal theme that the name suggested. All participants will be raising money to help more disadvantaged young people gain life changing skills and experiences through the Award.
The Event: A 20 mile hike through London, passing over 20 Royal Sites
We designed a route taking in over 20 Royal parks, monuments or points of interest across some of London’s iconic locations. The route and various engagement activities across it gave colleagues a bonding experience, whilst also bringing them closer to the cause of D of E and help them to understand the valuable work that D of E does for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
At the end of the hike we put on a post-hike celebration at the foot of Tower Bridge, with street food stalls and drinks for all participants.
The Result: Almost £90,000 raised and record-breaking numbers of supporters attend
The event held at the end of May 2025 was a brilliant day for all involved, with 500 supporters taking part and enjoying brilliant weather throughout their walk across the Capital. Particular highlights of the route included Hyde Park, the Mall and a memorable finish across Tower Bridge, and the post-event celebration in the shadow of Tower Bridge was a fitting end to the day. We introduced a large screen showing a live feed of images being shared by participants throughout the day which was a great addition to an already buzzing event hub.
