The Brief: Grow and Give New Life to a Successful Run

Teach First’s iconic Run the River event has been taking place for several years in London. It has been steadily growing in participation and had reached capacity at its previous home.

Teach First approached Gladiator Events with a desire to give the event a facelift, with a brand new start and finish point, and a brand new 5km and 10km route. They also wanted to ensure the Health & Safety aspect of the event was meticulously looked after. Gladiator Events designed a completely new, stunning route, doubling the amount of riverside running, and made significant improvements to the medical provision and Health & Safety arrangements throughout the event.

The Event: An Evening Run with stunning views along the Thames

Run the River 2019 was a 5km and 10km riverside run aimed at colleagues from around the city. The event took place at 7pm on a Tuesday evening in September, attracting 3000 runners, passing some of London’s most stunning landmarks, as the sun set. The run started at Potters Fields Park and finished with a memorable crossing over Tower Bridge!

The Result: Returning for more

The 2019 event attracted record numbers and ran seamlessly, with no significant medical incidents thanks to the additional planning and management Gladiator Events had in place. Sadly, we have been unable to run the event in 2020 and 2021 but we are excited to be working on the event’s return in 2022, which is now open for entry here!

The Gladiator Events team provide excellent support throughout the whole event process. They are careful to maximise opportunities and value for money at every point, so the end result is always brilliant! It’s always a pleasure to work with Gladiator Events and I thoroughly recommend them
