The Brief: A new, fully accessible event for families

Demelza Hospice Care for Children were looking for a new event that would appeal to new and existing family supporters. They wanted an appealing, family friendly run, and crucially wanted it to be accessible for buggies and wheelchair users.

The Event: A 2.5km and 5km ‘Little Warrior’ event

Gladiator Events designed an obstacle race event concept that incorporated the five key therapies offered by Demelza. The course featured five zones including the hydrotherapy zone, where participants slid down a giant inflatable slide covered in water, and the sensory zone, where they crawled through an 8m long tunnel filled with thousands of brightly coloured balls. Accessible options ran alongside each obstacle for wheelchair users and buggies.

Other zones included the memory zone, the music zone and the art zone, where hundreds of participants left a permanent mark by putting a coloured hand print on a giant art board.

Feedback was amazing and we’re hoping to bring the event back in 2023.
